To choose how many lives you have (anything up to 255!), play the tape from the start. Note that any amount more than about 100 corrupts the screen but does in fact work.

Another error which either Your Sinclair or the publishers made and never fixed - this poke is broke! To fix it, change the 54755 in line 50 to 34775. Depsite fixing the checksum line which I have done, it crashes after the first part of the loader goes in (I tested this poke with a .tzx tape file of the original game under X128). Maybe I have a different version ? I provide a download link below anyway where you can download this fixed version of the poke.
